The project is our competition entry for the development of the area in and around the Viennese Naschmarkt. We see the area as part of a broader context, next in line to Schönbrunn, the Secession, the Theater an der Wien, as well as various well-known buildings by Otto Wagner. The currently existing parking lot bordering the Naschmarkt is transformed into an organic landscape / park, which leads directly to the newly planned market on the site. The entryways to the park-area are aligned with the streets that are leading to the 5th and the 6th district. The new area above the Wienfluss is planned with the history of the site in mind. Through the space-defining greenery on both sides, the shores of the initial river are redrawn on the surface. The multifunctional space on the area is planned as a free to use, urban, open space with a variety of possible utilisations such as a bicycle training park. With its open yet defining greenery it spans from the Kettenbrücke up until its north-eastern border. The width of the greenspaces underlines the intention of bringing a cooler climate to the city. All defined areas, including the space for the flea market are thought of as part the park, and are integrated as such into the spatial structure.
