Our contribution to an invited competition in Prinzersdorf. As a new element, the planned kindergarten will fit seamlessly into the existing surroundings of the square. The prominent elements of the immediate surroundings, the Prinzersdorf parish church and the local town hall, are therefore taken into account as key elements in the design process. In order to give the outside space an inviting character, the building, including its entrance area and balcony design, opens up towards the main square. The concept which improves the public space through the design of the additional green elements, which can be seen in the building itself through the extensively landscaped terrace and balcony elements, continues in the garden through the design of play pavilions with a similar character. The green elements visible outside, on the building itself and through the pavilions in the garden area, create a coherent image of a modern kindergarten whose concept fits playfully into the existing urban landscape and reveals qualities not only inside the building, but also on the outside as an. The aim of the design is to create a diverse and unique world for children. A place with a homely character is created in which community can be a lived experience. The simple and clearly organised structure makes orientation easier and creates clarity and openness through a well thought-out construction.

The existing structure on the ground floor will be adapted from the already existing structure with just a few interventions. The new spacial partitions are proposed as flexible wooden furniture elements. Separate spaces for each kindergarten group ensure security and clarity. Generously planned window areas with sun protection as well as covered terrace areas in front expand the space and enable an uncomplicated change between the interior space and the garden.
