A, 2024, by: Jan Proksa, Helene Lauterbach; competition held by the Alpenverein, 3rd prize in architectural competition held by the Alpenverein
Our contribution to an invited competition held by the Alpenverein. Our design focuses on the urban integration of the new hut into the existing structure of the alpine pasture. The orientation of the hut and the formation of a gable roof are determined by the houses in the immediate vicinity. The implementation of the spatial program with reduced distances is reflected in a compact volume to enable the most efficient and economical use of energy. Even though the buildings size makes it seem relatively dominant compared to its immediate surroundings, the alleged size is made less dominant through the use of a
cantilever on the south side. This makes the building blend in with its surroundings much more homogeneous, and the building itself no longer appears massive.
